History
In November 1995, Mike and Kim Bollen established the National Christian Foundation for Education and The Arts Trust with a goal of establishing a non-denominational, academically-rigorous high school in Northern Virginia.
Fundamental to this education is the understanding that we labor in vain unless God directs our efforts - nisi Dominus frustra. This school would recognize that "each child is created in the image and likeness of God, the Creator, as a unique human being having a purpose for which he or she is created and is known by his deeds, by whether what he does is pure and right" and that "the knowledge and pursuit of truth, understanding and wisdom has the intended outcome of enabling the individual to fulfill the purpose for which he or she is created."
With this vision, in September 1996, Ad Fontes Academy opened with 8 students in Grades 9-10. In June 1999, Ad Fontes graduated its first class of five seniors. Through June 2007, AFA has graduated 63 students in its first nine classes.
In 2000, Ad Fontes added Grades 7 and 8 to the high school program. In 2002, Ad Fontes received accreditation from the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (www.accsedu.org). In 2003, Kindergarten was added and Grades 1 to 6 the following year for a full K-12 program.
Ad Fontes currently serves 140 students in Grades K-12 at two Centreville campus locations, St. John's Episcopal Church (K-4) and Centreville Presbyterian Church.
Ad Fontes Academy is a private non-profit Classical and Christian school governed by a Board of Directors.
