Welcome from AFA Seniors!

Dear prospective Ad Fontes Academy family,

Welcome to Ad Fontes Academy.

Ad Fontes is extremely important to us. We want to share our experience with you as you consider AFA for your children.

Ad Fontes has taught us how to learn for ourselves while finding God in every aspect of our life. Having attended other types of schools, we find that AFA has nurtured us along in our Christian walk and equipped us with the tools we will need later in college and throughout our lives.  Ad Fontes Academy challenges us in a variety of ways so we might walk as lights in a dark world.

The relationships with the student and teachers of AFA are ones that, as seniors, we will take away to college and the rest of our lives.  AFA is unique.  The atmosphere is friendly and open.  The community is warm and welcoming to any person no matter who they might be.  Coming here from any other school you will see the atmosphere is completely new.  The teachers walk along side of you, mentoring each individual student in every area of their life. AFA is a Christian community and school.

Ad Fontes teaches us to learn for ourselves. We are encouraged to question and discuss anything we learn with our classmates and teachers. This eventually leads to the Senior Thesis, where we use all the knowledge and skills we have attained to articulate arguments on current issues important to us.

Ad Fontes also helps us along in our personal walk with Christ.  Every morning starts with a devotion at the start of the first period class.  These devotions have a reading from a passage of scripture, a devotional, or thoughts from a teacher to cause us to think about our faith in a new light. It takes some getting used to, but we find open spiritual discussion to help us in our own faith. The seniors this year have also started to lead small groups in Chapel where we discuss applications in our own life with fellow Upper School students.  The student life at Ad Fontes is not only something that we look to for answers to our Christian faith, but also for fellowship with one another.

This school is not only a place to learn, but also a place to grow and worship as children of God.  Our experience is full of knowledge, memories and lessons.  Each student at Ad Fontes Academy loves all of these.  And this experience at AFA is something without compare to any other, and will always be treasured by each student that walks through the door.

We encourage you to visit Ad Fontes to see all these things in action.

Sincerely in Christ,

Henry Overos and Shalini Boddu, AFA Senior Class 2012
